This character study was developed for an unnamed narrative project. The piece explores visual language for a figure of spiritual authority — someone both powerful and compassionate. My focus was on conveying serenity and strength through posture, gesture, and costume design, blending sacred symbolism with a grounded, human presence. The design process emphasized balance, light, and form to reflect her role as a healer and guide.
The High Priestess
Concepts
The design process began with a simple medieval princess concept, using soft lines and a clean, recognizable silhouette. From there, I explored ways to incorporate her spiritual authority and healing role, gradually refining shapes, details, and symbols to convey both elegance and strength. The early simplicity allowed me to focus on the essence of the character before layering in complexity.

Props and Costumes
The character design was largely shaped through exploration of costumes and props. The style evolved from a medieval-inspired look to a more classical Greek or Roman aesthetic, while maintaining the soft lines that reflect her gentle nature. I experimented with sharper, angular lines in the staff, but ultimately softened them to harmonize with the character’s warm and compassionate presence.

FINAL DRAFTS
Building on the exploration of costume and prop design, this slideshow traces the High Priestess from early sketches to the fully rendered final piece. Each stage helped refine her form, color palette, and overall presence. I love watching how the design evolves and how small adjustments in line, texture, or light can shift the entire mood and bring the character to life.
